Do you want peace in your home? Who doesn't? When the angels sang of peace on earth at the birth of Christ, they stood in the good biblical tradition of the theme of peace. They also touched a chord in human hearts, that there would be an end of conflict and the establishment of a secure peace. If we would have peace on this earth, then there must be peace in our homes. One of the hardest things we will ever do is to try and maintain a sense of personal peace when there is conflict in our homes. This is why the Bible teaches us that God's desire is that our homes be filled with the peace of Christ. That will be a trait of our heavenly home, and it can also be a trait of our earthly ones. Most non-Christian family agencies - when they talk about peace - focus on good communication, healthy resolution of conflict, and taking care of practical problems, such as money. All of these are important, but the Christian home has the extra blessing of having the peace of Christ dwelling there as well. When we are right with Christ, we find his grace is there to help us become right with others as well. He is the key to unity and peace in the home. I pray this morning, and this entire Christmas season, that your home - whether you live alone, or are married, or have a house filled with other family members - will be characterized by the peace of Christ.
